Super Snail is a new idle RPG developed by Qcplay and released at the beginning of August last year. When I downloaded Super Snail, my expectations for it weren’t high. To be honest, I didn’t know what to expect, which is probably the best approach when it comes to trying out new stuff. You can just try it and if you don’t like it, you can easily move on. Anyway, here are all of my thoughts about this game.

Story

Like every great story, this one also starts with time travel. In the distant future, everything and everyone is destroyed by the vicious demon gods and no one can stand in their way. The only ones that survived are insignificant tiny creatures

That’s where our tiny and lonely snail comes into play. He is one of the few left in the future and that’s when Gaia – the Earth’s will appears and he learns everything that happened.  He also learns that the only way to stop the demon gods is to travel back in time and stop them when they first arrive and are at their weakest point. And that’s when the gameplay starts.

Gameplay

You probably think that with Super Snail being an idle RPG there wouldn’t be a lot of things to do — but you would be wrong. Well, kinda. At the beginning of the game, there are a lot of new things that can keep you busy for days or even more if you decide to take it slow.

Eventually, you’ll reach the point of the game where you can log in once or twice a day and finish everything quickly. And if that’s all you want this game to be then you can do that but if you want more, then the game has an amazing feature implemented.

There is a PC in the base that has a Snailsoft 10 on it and besides showing time and weather, it also has minigames on it. Some of them are Solitaire, 2048, Fruit Frenzy, hardly poker, and many more. It’ll definitely keep you busy for a while.

Now let’s talk about some of the main features of the game:

Exploration

This is the idling part of the game, where you do your missions and gather intel in order to get upgrades for each of the maps that you’re idling on. This is a great place to get tons of rewards and upgrades for your snail.

My advice to you would be to complete each map 100% before moving on to the next one. Yeah, you’ll spend an extra day or two on it but it’s worth it if you care about progression and min-maxing all the stuff you can get, especially if you’re F2P.

Gene Forms

As a mighty snail, you have a basic form (Origin form) with stats that you improve as you progress deeper into the game. One of the ways of improving stats is getting special organs that you can put on your snail.

At the moment of writing this, there are 90 special organs that you can acquire. You get some for free and for some, you’ll have to test your luck by opening an organ chest or some similar luck-based stuff.

There are also 6 other gene forms: Zombie, Demon, Angel, Mutant, Mecha, and Dragon. All of them have nice stat boosts and special perks when you use them. Without going into much detail, the one I found myself using the most is the Demon form. Also, keep in mind that I haven’t unlocked the last two forms yet.

Relics

There are 5 groups of relics and for each group, there are numerous relics that you can get. Some of them can be acquired very simply but for most of them, you’ll need a bit of luck on your side.

Once obtained, relics can be activated, and depending on the rarity, they can either give juicy bonuses or basic bonuses. They can either give stat bonuses or bonuses related to explorations, crafting, or anything related that can be sped up or improved.

The more relics you get, the easier the game gets, and also this is one of the requirements of acquiring new gene forms.

Gear

Your snail can be equipped with a gear that also boosts stats and gives nifty bonuses. Just like everything else some of them you get for free and for some of them you’ll need luck. The good thing about the gear is that with some of the basic gear you can craft higher rarity ones and get better snail stats.

There are a lot of other things about this game that I can talk about but I’ll leave some for you to discover. One last thing I’ll talk about before I move on is the gacha part of the game

Yeah, most of the stuff that you need to get is based on gacha but in their defense, the amount of free stuff that you get is plenty. In a couple of weeks, I felt zero pressure to purchase any packs. Obviously there is an option for it but it’s more on a basis if you really feel like supporting the developers.

Also, there is an option for you to watch ads to support devs and in return, you get small rewards for it but ads aren’t pushed in your face constantly. I have to say it’s very commendable.

Graphics and audio

Super Snail has a very specific design look, and not in a bad way. I wish I could tell you exactly what it is, but the best I could describe it is as a mix of cute kawaii and vintage games. The point is that it looks nice and I like it.

It’s always hard to talk about the audio of mobile games because let’s face it, you’ll have it turned off most of the time. But if you’re one of those people who likes the complete experience when playing mobile games, you’ll be happy to know that Super Snail has relaxing background music paired with cute sound effects.

Final thoughts

Playing Super Snail for the past few weeks has been really refreshing. I would definitely recommend trying it out and if you do decide to try it out there’s always a place for you in my guild. It’s named the same as this website, and we are a pretty active group. Feels like I’m doing the ad for it but no pressure. Just wanted you to know that you have a home if you decide to play it.
