Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown review
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is an action-adventure game developed and published by Ubisoft. The game is the first new major installment in the Prince of Persia series since 2010’s Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands which was a pure banger back then. It is scheduled to release for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on 18 January 2024. And if you pre-order it, you get to play a couple of days earlier.
Story
In my teenage years, I enjoyed playing Prince of Persia, and with a new part coming out, nostalgic feelings are through the roof. Which was the reason for the pre-order, I wanted to play it. Now timing of the actual release was quite unfortunate for me because it was set to be released two hours after midnight. Even though I wasn’t able to stay that late, I made sure to get up early to play it.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown introduces a hero named Sargon. And Sargon is part of an elite “club” named The Immortals. The game starts with Sargon and the rest of The Immortals saving Persia from invaders from the east, The Kushans.
Victory is celebrated in the palace, and while everybody is enjoying and having a fun time, Sargon’s mentor Anahita kidnaps Prince Ghassan and takes him to the cursed city of Mount Qaf. They follow her there in an attempt to rescue the prince. As we explore the city, the story unfolds and Sargon gets stronger, wiser, and more powerful.
Gameplay
This masterpiece features vast maps with a lot of challenges along the way that will require you to think smart and fast. It’s easy to get lost. And enemies along the way get trickier and more challenging. If I’m going to be completely honest with you, the game got the best of me a couple of times.
I found myself repeating “This isn’t possible” or “WHAT? HOW? WHAT? WHERE?” more than I would love to admit. Some of the boss fights got me questioning my skills as an average gamer. But in the end even after what seemed like a thousand fails, I can proudly say that I didn’t give up and rose victorious.
Graphics and Audio
When it comes to graphics and audio, I must admit I really enjoyed it and found myself immersed in the world of Prince of Persia. The world is beautifully designed and when it comes to art styles, I found it quite refreshing.
Final Thoughts
It’s really hard to call it a game of the year since it just started but I can positively say that it was an experience playing it and I do sure know I’ll be playing it again sometime this year. I do recommend that you try it out. And I hope it triggers you less than it triggered me.
