Grand Theft Auto has been part of my life for such a long time — over 22 years so far. The first installment of this franchise I played was Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Since then, there wasn’t a single moment that I’ve not enjoyed playing GTA.
It’s been 11 years since the last part was released. Just like me, everybody is itching to play the new one. GTA VI was supposed to be released Q3/Q4 2025 but there have been rumors that it has been pushed for 2026.
I personally think those rumors are fake and it’s too early for those kinds of decisions. If they were to postpone the release, I think they wouldn’t consider it before the summer of 2025.
With all the speculations going around, Rockstar Games haven’t been very eager to respond to them.
To make things even worse they’ve been very mysterious about the development of the game and information is scarce. That doesn’t stop us from talking about it. So here is everything we know so far, some details other people noticed from the trailer, and some of my theories about the game.
Story
The story of the game is going to be set in a fictional state that mostly looks like Florida. So you already know, there are going to be some wiiiiiiiiild things happening in the game. The main protagonist should be Lucia and her partner Jason.
It’s some sort of modern-age Bonnie and Clyde and we all know how that one ended. Just like I’ve said before, Rockstar Games have been very shy with sharing the details and there isn’t much to know about the story. There are some speculations that there will be some kind of satirical portrayal of social media and influencer culture, and few references to Internet memes.
Gameplay
When it comes to the actual gameplay of the new GTA, there isn’t any actual real footage but with a little bit of imagination and a common sense we can deduce some of the elements that will be included in the game. I’ll try to go over the most interesting stuff and then some. Let’s start from the most important one:
Cars
GTA V has a various selection of cars to be used while playing. I strongly believe that we’ll get even better in GTA VI. It has been a decade since it’s release and the cars have gotten even juicier than they were back then. Also, with the rise of popularity of electric cars, we can expect to see them represented in the game.
Now, the question poses itself — if we get the electric cars in the game, does that mean we’ll get the auto-pilot? That’s a high possibility for sure. Especially with the rumors that you’ll be able to alternate between two protagonists and that you’ll be able to choose if you want to drive or sit in the passenger seat.
Besides the wide selection of cars, I believe that we’ll get new and improved car customization options. Also, I believe there will be some sort of cool side missions that you’ll need to do in order to get some of the more advanced parts for the cars.
One last thing that I think is worth mentioning, the implementation of lockpicking systems. In order to steal cars, you’ll need to lockpick them and the better the car is the harder it might be to steal it. In case you fail to lockpick it, the alarm will get triggered and the police will be alerted. Adding those kinds of danger factors would improve the game by tenfold.
RP
Over the past years, GTA has been huge in the RP (Role-playing) world. Some people would say that’s what kept the game relevant for so long and I would have to agree to some degree.
The fact is that there are a lot of people who enjoy that part of the game, and there are a few cases where people prefer their RP life then their real one. Not that I judge, just trying to say that it would be folly to ignore that part of the game.
That’s why they implemented the whole social media factor. You’ll be able to do all sorts of stuff and post it on socials. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is something equivalent to Youtube in the game that everyone has access to. Which also could open so many possibilities in the game, but for that one we’ll have to wait and see.
Robberies/Heists
Just like it has been shown in the trailer, the robberies will play a big part of the game. As we dig deeper into the lives of Lucia and Jason, I believe that the scale of robberies will increase. It’s going to start with quick small store thefts and most likely work our way all up to robbing an actual bank or something even riskier. The greater the risk, the greater the reward but the consequences are also bigger if you fail.
Other Stuff
In true GTA fashion, there will be a ton of options to choose from. With the game being open world, you’ll be able to explore and do all sorts of interesting stuff. You’ll be able to play Golf/Tennis, go scuba diving, fishing, and even racing. You’ll also be able to do deliveries to earn some extra cash. And if you don’t know what to do with all that cash from heists and deliveries, you can also visit a casino and try your luck, a real fast life in GTA. Undoubtedly, there will be even more stuff to do in the game but we’ll have to wait till they give us more information and for some we’ll have to wait till GTA VI is out.
Graphics and audio
When it comes to the looks of GTA, one thing is for sure — they’ve come a long way since the release of their first game. I’m quite certain that GTA VI will have better graphics, animation, and even sounds then its predecessor. There are a few leaks that claim that they’ve made things more realistic.
The animations are smoother, the walking/running is improved, sounds of the cars are more realistic, and even the sound of weapons are too realistic. Not to name everything but there is a lot of other stuff that they’ve polished. The one fear that I have is that my PC won’t be able to handle that. I’ll cross that bridge when the time is right.
Final words of wisdom
I have no doubt in my mind that the new GTA VI is going to be one of those games that everyone will talk about for years to come. It will break all the records related to the gaming world. The main thing is that I’ll enjoy it for sure, even if it doesn’t live up to my expectations. All is left to wait and see. Stay tuned because I’ll try my best to keep this article up to date with all the new releases of informations related to GTA VI
