Black Myth: Wukong Tips and Tricks (Guide For Beating Bosses)

My first day playing Black Myth Wukong was way more difficult than it needed to be. It’s a natural process — it takes time to adjust to new stuff. But now after playing for a while, I have such a chill time playing the game. And if you are like me, struggling for hours to defeat certain bosses, you are at the right place. Here are all the tips and tricks you need to know to beat those nasty bosses easier:

1. Petrify (Immobilize) is your friend

This is the most useful skill in the game, and it has been clutch so many times. You want to prioritize it before everything else. You have to be very careful when using it because it doesn’t always work — it either bugs out or it doesn’t apply if the boss is doing some special move.

So, timing it right is everything. The way I love to do this is: wait for the boss to finish his combo, attack him once or twice, turn him to stone (ideally you do it when he starts the attack because you do more damage that way), pound him as much as possible, and run away once it’s expired. While I wait for the cooldown of the skill, most of the time it’s a game of survival with a couple of hits here and there when I feel most safe.

2. Invest in stamina

One thing that you’ll be doing more than anything is dodging. Managing your stamina is essential but if you invest more into stamina and stamina recovery, you’ll have fewer problems to worry about. You would be able to spam/panic dodge as much as you want.

3. Level up

Leveling up doesn’t boost your stats but it does give you talent points that you can invest in getting stronger. If you’re fighting a boss and he is mopping the floor with you, sometimes it’s best to go back and level up. The best way to do that is to find a crowded spot near the shrine, defeat the enemies, go back, rest (which resets mobs), and rinse and repeat until you feel it’s enough.

4. Time your transformation

If you didn’t know, once you transform, you get a full HP bar. There are a few ways to go about this. The first one would be to use it immediately, so you get a chance to use it at least twice during a fight. The second — and smarter — way would be to save the transformation for the crucial moments like finishing the boss or for the moments when you are low on health. Look at it as a hail mary, use it only if you absolutely need it. And the last one is that you can use it to counter some of the boss combos that you’re struggling with. But it’s not as efficient as the second one.

5. Don’t bother with potions

You probably noticed this yourself by now but if you didn’t — potions don’t make any damn difference whatsoever, like none. So don’t sweat about them. Spend your resources on more useful stuff than potions.

6. Review your performance

If you’re still struggling with defeating the bosses and you’re about to rage quit, don’t. This might be considered as a tryhard method but I promise you it works. Don’t ask me how I know but I just know.

Just use OBS if you are playing on the PC to record your gameplay or you can even watch it on YouTube. Take out a notebook and watch the replay. Pay attention to the boss’s mechanics, usually they have a few combos in their arsenal that they go through. Write down how long they last, how many attacks they do during that time, and what happens after they finish them. Memorizing all of them and fighting a boss will be like child’s play. It’s an over-the-top method but it’s better than quitting the game that you paid for.

If you do everything from this list, you are guaranteed to have an easier time beating Black Myth Wukong. Just remember to have fun and enjoy the game. As long as you keep playing it, you’re bound to beat any boss you’re stuck on.
