Best Lego Video Games
One of the things that most people can agree on is that you’re never too old to play with Legos. And, at least in my opinion, the same can be said for video games. No matter how old you get, playing a Lego game just hits the spot.
It’s not just because of the brand, but it’s because the games are actually good and fun to play. As someone who strongly believes in that statement, I’ve decided to create a list of the best Lego video games:
1. Lego The Lord of the Rings
As far the Lego games go, Lego The Lord of the Rings definitely takes the cake.
Starting from a wide range of available missions to various areas that you can explore, you’ll be busy with this game for hours to come. Some of the places you can go to are the famous Hobbiton, Rivendell, Minas Tirith and, of course, Mordor. All of the areas are carefully crafted, with a great level of detail.
While exploring, you’ll run across all kinds of characters that offer quests and also you’ll be able to discover Easter eggs that are hidden across the map. In addition to it all, the game follows the plot of the movies and features various voice lines from it, with a little sprinkle of a famous Lego humor. All of this combined makes this a perfect Lego game.
2. Lego Batman
Lego Batman is the first game that I’ve played together with my younger brother. After the first hour of playing the game, I knew that it would either bring us closer or we’ll never speak again. While there were some tough moments during the gameplay where I thought we were done, I’m happy to report that I still talk to him.
Meanwhile the Lego Batman might not have any voice lines besides the your usual grunt sounds like hmmm or hrrrm but what it does have is tons of action. With the game being set in Gotham city where the player can play as one of the characters and fight various enemies, solve puzzles and of course collect as many studs as possible.
You’ll also have a chance to use the Batmobile, Batboat, and Batwing which I found extremely cool back then. The fact that this was so well made and I had an opportunity to share it with someone, made this a perfect game that deserves a high place on the list.
3. Lego Harry Potter: Years 1–4
As far as it goes, the Lego Harry Potter: Years 1–4 is similar to all of the Lego games that were previously released with attention to exploring, solving puzzles and collecting stuff.
What made this game stand out (besides the obvious opportunity to play as one of the famous characters from the books, use spells, or explore the wizarding world) was a comedic approach to it. Even if it was a serious matter, you had no choice but to giggle at the most of the stuff happening.
And even if you’re not a fan of the Harry Potter franchise, I still believe you would enjoy this game.
4. Marvel Superheroes 1
When it comes to Marvel Superheroes 1, people’s opinions are split. Some hate it and some love it. Me, personally? I love it.
I mean what is there not to love? The story is great, the game features 180 playable characters with each having its own unique abilities, the missions are interesting and voice lines are top notch.
It’s one of those games that doing the 100% run is totally worth it. I’ve enjoyed every second playing and for sure I’ll do it again.
5. Lego DC Super-Villains
What makes Lego DC Super-Villains stand out from the rest is that they’re the first Lego game to incorporate a custom character into the story. Initially, you can customize your name, your look, and even your style of fighting.
As you progress deeper into the games you’ll gain access to various super-powers. Besides that, the other character roster is great, puzzles are interesting, the gameplay is fun and the story is engaging. You just have to experience it for yourself and appreciate it completely.
Honorable Mentions
Here are some of the games that didn’t quite make the list but are still worth checking out.
1. Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga
Lego Star Wars The Complete Saga is a mixture of Lego Star Wars I & II which covered the Prequel & Original Trilogies. The game features over 36 main story levels, around 20 bounty hunter missions, and a few bonus levels. You’ll be set for hours of the fun and interesting gameplay.
2. Lego Indiana Jones 1
When it comes to this game, the level designs, mechanics, puzzles and bonus levels are just great. And if you enjoyed watching the Indiana Jones movie, this game will hit the spot.
3. Lego City Undercover
If you wondered how GTA would look like if it were made from Legos, you can stop. This game is a perfect example of that. It’s filled with a lot of action, puzzles for you to solve, tons of collectibles, challenges and much more. It’s definitely worth checking out, especially if you enjoyed playing GTA.
4. LEGO Jurassic World
Jurassic world offers a perfect opportunity to play a game with legos and dinosaurs at the same time. I don’t know about you but that’s about as good as it gets.
5. Lego Movie
EVERYTHING IS AWESOME, EVERYTHING IS COOL WHEN YOU ARE PART OF THE TEAM. If you know, you know. No further explanation needed.
