Whether you want to connect with your significant other over long distance, or just spend some quality time together, playing video games is an excellent choice. Especially so if you already love gaming.

For example, I love playing games like Apex Legends or Valorant — but my wife absolutely hates them. Still, we love to spend time together, so we did our research to find games that we can both enjoy.
And through our many years together, we’ve rounded up some excellent titles that I’m sure you’ll love too. So, if you’re still on the lookout, here are some best couple video games you can play with your girlfriend or partner.

Best Video Games for Couples
If you’re a fan of PC and PlayStation games, you’re in luck — there are so many great games you can play with your girlfriend on these devices. Most of these games require you to be together in the same room, but let’s face it — there’s nothing like cozying up in blankets, with your favorite snacks and enjoying some friendly competition (or collaboration).
1. It Takes Two — A Funny and Heartfelt Game That Makes You Work Together

My Rating | 4.38/5 stars |
It Takes Two is an action-adventure video game released in 2021. This game is specifically designed for split-screen cooperative multiplayer, which means that it must be played with another player through either local or online play.
Playing locally is preferred in this situation. You get to play the married couple Cody and May who are planning on getting divorced. After they tell their daughter Rose the news, they get turned into hand-made dolls that belong to their kid.
Their initial goal was to reach Rose and hopefully return to their normal human bodies. The game is full of moments where it absolutely forces you to cooperate and solve problems together but also at the same time is full of moments where you can have fun and mess with each other. It’s a beautiful and wholesome game that deserves all the praise it gets.
2. Split Fiction — A Great Chance to Work Together

Pub Date | March 6, 2025 |
---|---|
Developer | Hazelight Studios |
Genre | Action, adventure, co-op |
Play on | PC, PlayStation, Xbox, |
Mode | Multiplayer |

Size | 85 GB |
Price | 49,99€ |
My Rating | 5/5 stars |
If you and your partner love co-op games that actually make you work together (instead of one of you just carrying the other), Split Fiction is a must-play. From the creators of It Takes Two, this game throws you into a wild narrative adventure where teamwork isn’t just helpful—it’s the only way forward.
You play as Mio and Zoe, two writers who accidentally trap themselves inside their own fictional worlds. What follows is a creative, ever-changing experience where one minute you’re solving puzzles in a fantasy realm, and the next, you’re battling sci-fi enemies with laser swords. The constant shifts keep things fresh, so neither of you gets bored (or has time to zone out and scroll your phone).
Like any great co-op game, Split Fiction lives and dies by communication. You’ll need to talk, strategize, and probably argue a little to solve puzzles and tackle challenges. The good news? The game supports both local and online co-op, and thanks to the Friend’s Pass, only one of you needs to own it.
Bottom line—if you’re looking for a game that’s equal parts fun, chaotic, and weirdly good for your relationship, Split Fiction is the perfect pick.

My Rating | 3.8/5 stars |
Fortnite Lego has been a successful crossover so far and if you need some beginner tips, I have an article you should definitely check out. It’s a great, fun, survival game where you get to explore, build and enjoy a relatively cozy world.
In this mode, you’ll be given the opportunity to build a totally customized village. But before that, you’ll need to explore and collect resources for it.
It’s a great chance to work together and have fun while exploring. And before you know it you’ll spend countless hours enjoying and probably building not just a village but a whole Metropolis. Your partner and you can build separate or joint villages and help each other collect resources, fight enemies, and more.
4. Mortal Kombat — Have Fun Destroying Each Other

My Rating | 3.5/5 stars |
Mortal Kombat is a media franchise centered on a series of fighting video games originally developed by Midway Games in 1992. The latest game released is Mortal Kombat 1 in September 2023.
Basically, you fight against each other until one of you obliterates the other one. Now let me tell you the harsh truth about this one — it doesn’t matter how good you are at this game.
Before you even know it, she will press a bunch of random buttons like her life depends on it and beat you. You’ll be left there stunned, defeated, and wondering what the heck is happening.
You might even try to justify it by saying it’s beginner’s luck, but you’ll see soon enough it wasn’t the case. I hope at least that knowing that she is having fun destroying you, brings you a little peace in these dark times. Hang in there.
5. Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled — Race Each Other (and You Might Win)

Pub Date | June 20, 2019 |
---|---|
Developer | Beenox |
Genre | PlayStation, Xbox, NS |
Play on | PlayStation,Xbox, NS |
Mode | Single-player, multiplayer |
Length | 5+ hrs for main objectives |
Size | 5.7 GB |
Price | Regular 39,99€ |
My Rating | 3.95/5 stars |
Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is a 2019 kart racing game developed by Beenox and published by Activision. Now, keep in mind there are still high chances that the Mortal Kombat scenario will repeat itself. But the rates are much lower with this one.
The more likely scenario that you will get is seeing her moving joystick to a side where she wants to make a turn. So, pay attention because nothing gets cuter than moments like that.
But overall, this is a simple racing game where you can compete against each other. There’s no bigger storyline, and this game is great if you want something quick and easily accessible.
6. Sackboy — Cozy Game for Two

Pub Date | November 12, 2020 |
---|---|
Developer | Sumo Digital |
Genre | Platform |
Play on | PC, PlayStation |
Mode | Single-player, multiplayer |
Length | 10+ hrs for main objectives |
Size | 60 GB |
Price | Regular 59,99€ |
My Rating | 3.938/5 stars |
Sackboy: A Big Adventure is a 2020 platform game developed by Sumo Digital and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Similar to art styles from other games, such as It Takes Two, this game is fun on its own.
You two can work together to free enslaved Sackpeople who are captured by the villain Vex. It’s a cute and cozy game, which I believe that you two can enjoy for hours to come.
If your partner is more into cozy games, this might be the perfect title to compromise on. It has just enough action if that’s your preference but it’s also relaxing and cute at times. Have fun!
Best Internet Games for Couples — Free Browser Games
If your partner (or both of you) don’t have any consoles or devices that can support the bigger, more demanding games, then browser games might just be the perfect solution. These are fun, easy to load up and get started quickly, and you can play them with your girlfriend whether she likes gaming overall or not.
1. GeoGuessr
GeoGuessr is a fantastic browser game that will give you hours of fun. You can play it many different ways. For one, you or your partner can send each other locations and then guess where they are. You can also play a makeshift game of hide and go seek where your partner chooses a location and you have to guess where it is based on a few images.
It never gets boring because there’s a whole world to explore, and this might also give you some travel ideas. You don’t have to be in the same room to play it, but you can be if you prefer it that way. So, it’s perfect for both long distance couples and those that live together.
2. Jklm.fun
Jklm.fun is a fun browser game that allows you to create a private room for you and your partner and play different games. They’re short and quick, and mostly revolve around making words out of offered letters. So, pull out your dictionary!
3. Pogo Games
If you want a variety of browser games at your disposal, Pogo Games is a great choice. There are word games, match-3 games, card games, mahjong and so much more. None of it requires any installation or additional work from you. Just go to Pogo Games, pick one that you both like and create a private room for you to play.
4. skribbl.io
Skribbl.io is a free browser game that requires you to draw and others then guess what it is. It’s pretty simple but so enjoyable, and a perfect game for a date night with your girlfriend. You can also play it in a group if you’re having a double date or a party so it’s pretty fun in multiple settings. As with most browser games, you don’t need to do anything except go to the website and get started.
5. Online Chess
In case you and your partner like chess or at least know how to play it, online chess is a great idea. Chess.com is a great place to start, but there are plenty of other options if you just google “online chess”. The good thing about the website I mentioned is that it also has a bunch of chess puzzles to solve, and even learning materials so you can learn how to play.
6. AmongUs
While AmongUs might be better in groups, it’s also a fun game to play as a couple. You can complete tasks on a spaceship and maintain life while trying to find the imposter of the group and eject them before they kill you both.
You can play this game on your PlayStation, PC or mobile device, but there’s also a browser version for quick gameplay. The good thing about AmongUs is that it’s very catchy, especially for people who are usually not into gaming.
7. Little Alchemy
While this technically doesn’t allow you and your partner to play together, it’s still a fantastic way to spend time and have a few laughs. My wife and I played it a lot for a while, and it’s truly enjoyable.
The point of the game is to merge things to get more things. For example, merge fire and water to get steam.
The way to play it together is this — you and your partner decide on a term and then whoever manages to merge and get it first wins. Make sure you choose something complicated, that would take more time and creativity to get. For example, “Santa”, “Valentine’s Day” or similar. We used this website but there are many others that
Best Mobile Games for Couples
If you want to enjoy some friendly competition (or collaboration) with your girlfriend on mobile, then this list is perfect for you. Keep in mind that these games are just the ones that are overall the best and easiest choice, but basically any mobile game can become a couple game if you want it to.
For example, my wife and I loved playing Summoners War together, and seeing who can get more cool monsters. We also used Subway Surfer to compete and see who can get the most points (I did, of course). But we also enjoyed some mobile MMORPGs such as Perfect World (you can get married in this one).
Whether you’re together or apart, I recommend quizzes or trivia games (Song Pop or QuizUp come to mind) because that’s always bound to end in laughter. We also had quite a few laughs playing relationship games like Episodes (because of the drama) or hidden object games if we’re together in the same room.
So, there’s really no limit with mobile games. These are just the ones that are specifically geared towards collaboration or competition.
1. Hey Day
It may be a little unconventional, but Hey Day is a fantastic couple game. In it, you’re meant to create and maintain a farm (which includes feeding animals, getting crops and selling them, etc.). You and your girlfriend can both create one and then add each other as friends, which will help you trade items and get each other out of trouble.
As you progress, you can start doing events together, join a guild, etc.
I wouldn’t normally recommend it, but my wife and I once spent quite a few months playing it, and we truly loved it. We competed to see who can create a prettier farm, who can level up faster and get new items, who can do more guild events, etc. But we also collaborated a lot, especially during events and when one of us needed something.
Hey Dey is good for both long distance couples and ones that are not because you play it on different devices. It’s also completely free, doesn’t have any annoying ads and to my memory, doesn’t push you to buy anything with real money.
2. Words With Friends
This is another game for lovers of Scrabble and other word games. While games like Hey Dey require more time and you’ll probably play them for a long time, this one is easy to set up and play for only a few hours.
The title is pretty self-explanatory, but both you and your partner are meant to guess words out of given letters. As I said, it’s fun to play for a night or two and you can give up at any time without missing anything/
3. Mario Kart Tour
If you want a racing game, but for mobile, you won’t get better than Mario Kart Tour. It’s the classic Mario, but with racing, and it allows you to compete with others — in this case, that would be your girlfriend.
What Makes a Good Couple Game?
While these are definitely some of the best games for couples, it’s also possible that you and your partner like none of them. People are different and that’s something you should always account for.
The best way to find out what game works for you is to talk and explore plenty of different games. Your partner may end up loving games like Apex (unlike mine) or even League of Legends, so you might want to give those a go. Or they may enjoy more RPG fantasy games, so you can check out Baldur’s Gate 3. MMORPGs are also a fantastic choice for couples.
My point is — any game that allows you both to play at the same time can be a great game for couples. The most important thing is to have fun and create some memories together!
FAQs
Even if you and your partner are a long-distance couple, there are tons of games you can play together. For quick and free options, I recommend browser games (check out my list above) like GeoGuessr or Skribbl.io.
If both of you enjoy gaming and are up for a challenge, try It Takes Two — though I recommend being on the phone with them while you play. The same goes for Sackboy.
Mobile games are a good option too — Hey Day is a great one that requires you to log in daily, so it’s a good way to interact and have fun on a regular basis. But for some quick fun, I recommend Words With Friends or Mario Kart Tour.
Basically, any of the games on my list above can be great date night games. It just depends on what you’re looking for. If you’re a long distance couple on a date night, check out my recs above.
If you’re together in person, it depends on what kind of date you’re having. Is it a fun, at-home pizza night? Then It Takes Two is definitely the best choice. Are you drinking and maybe going out at some point? Check out quiz and trivia games like QuizUp or Song Pop. I would also recommend Truth or Dare type games; just look them up on your app store and you’ll find plenty. Those are always more fun when drinking.
Another game that’s great whether you’re having a cozy night or preparing for a night out on the town is Mortal Kombat.
So, take your pick and have fun!
