Game Releases for May 2024
Game releases for May 2024 are almost here. One-third of the year gone already and I feel like it just started. I guess time flies when you’re having fun. Let’s look at the list of upcoming games and see if the fun continues in the gaming world.
MAY 2
Endless Ocean Luminous
Platform: NS
Genre: Adventure, Simulation
Description: Endless Ocean Luminous is about exploring the Veiled Sea, a fictional, unexplored region, and your goal is to find and document marine life. The game itself has over 500 species to document, including creatures that are mythological or extinct. Outside of marine life, the player can also explore underwater structures such as temples and shipwrecks.
The game allows groups of up to 30 online players to embark on adventures together.
Touhou Mystia’s Izakaya
Platform: NS
Genre: Restaurant simulation
Description: You get to play as Mystia, the owner of a small izakaya (a Japanese bar). You’ll have to collect ingredients by day, cater to the customers by night, learn recipes from familiar characters, and become the best izakaya owner in all of Gensokyo! The game was initially released on PC on October 1, 2021, and now it’s getting released on Nintendo Switch.

Prison Architect 2
Platform: Win, PS5, XSX
Genre: Construction and management simulation
Description: The name of the game is self-explanatory. You’ll have to use your resources to build, manage, and control the prison. You’ll be able to design every corner of your prison and manage everything from daily schedules to policies.
Venture to the Vile
Platform: Win, consoles
Genre: Metroidvania
Description: Venture to the Vile is set in the strange town of Rainybrook, which is now under the control of the creature called the Vile. You’ll have to fight your way through and find your friend Ella. In the process, you’ll have to absorb some of the Vile’s powers which may lead to you losing your humanity.

V Rising
Platform: Win
Genre: Survival
Description: V Rising is an action role-playing survival game that entered early access on May 17, 2022. Now the game is getting a full release. You get to play as a recently awakened vampire. You’ll need to gather materials, make and upgrade your equipment, and you’ll have to build a castle that will be your home. V Rising game sessions are hosted on servers that are either PvE or PvP.

Animal Well
Platform: Win, NS, PS5
Genre: Metroidvania, Puzzle
Description: In this game, you’ll get a chance to explore the beautiful world of Animal Well which is like some kind of maze. You’ll have to collect various items to help you on your journey but you’ll also have to fight some enemies along the way.
Gift
Platform: Win, NS, PS5, XSX
Genre: Action-adventure
Description: You get to play as a character who wakes up on the cruise ship that’s sinking. Your goal will be to escape the mentioned ship while dealing with numerous obstacles.
Crow Country
Platform: Win, PS4, PS5
Genre: Horror
Description: This is a survival horror game, where you’ll have to solve some puzzles and riddles as you investigate the abandoned theme park, Crow Country.
Rainbow Cotton
Platform: Win, NS, PS4, PS5, XBO
Genre: Shoot ’em up
Description: Rainbow Cotton is a 2000 rail shooter video game. And now after 24 years, it’s being remastered and released on all platforms. You get to play as the young witch Cotton, accompanied by her trusty fairy friend, Silk. You’ll have to fight the demon, Tweed, and his legions of followers.
Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle: Chomp Champs
Platform: Win, NS, PS4, PS5, XBO, XSX
Genre: Maze, battle royale
Description: This new Pac-Man game is going to be a battle royale. 64 players will have to compete against each other to be “Chomp Champ”. It will support cross-platform play. This one is going to be a good one, and we’ll be able to find out who is the best Pac-Man player.

Homeworld 3

Genre: Real-time strategy
Description: Homeworld 3 is an upcoming real-time strategy video game set in space. The combat gameplay is built around an effective 3D ballistics system. It is said that the campaign will be extensive and long.
May 14
Biomutant
Platform: NS
Genre: Action role-playing
Description: This game was released on every other console previously and now it’s being released on NS. Biomutant is an action role-playing game set in an open world in which you take control of a mammalian warrior in a world filled with mutated animals.
Neptunia Game Maker R:Evolution
Platform: NS, PS4, PS5
Genre: Role-playing
Description: This previously Japan-exclusive game is getting a global release. The game follows the Older Neptune who is on a mission to revive a fallen game maker with the help of three goddesses. This game takes place in a world where Game Makers rule the world and battle for shares and supremacy.

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut
Platform: Win
Genre: Action-adventure
Description: One of my favorite games is getting a PC release. You get to play as Jin Sakai, a samurai on a quest to protect Tsushima Island during the Mongol invasion of Japan. Jin struggles between following the samurai code to fight honorably or using dishonorable methods of repelling the Mongols. If you didn’t have a chance to play this game by now, I implore you to get it and try it for yourself.

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Classic
Platform: Win, MacOS
Genre: MMORPG
Description: World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Classic is a server option for the 2010 expansion Cataclysm. It’ll feature a campaign story, 7 zones, 9 dungeons, a Dungeon Journal, 3 raids, a Flexible Raid lock system, Tol Barad PvP, Darkmoon Island, Flying in Eastern Kingdoms, and Kalimdor.

Neptunia: Sisters vs. Sisters
Platform: XBO, XSX
Genre: Role-playing
Description: A game that was previously released on other platforms is now being released on Xbox. This game is a spin-off RPG in the Hyperdimension Neptunia series.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II
Platform: Win, XSX
Genre: Action-adventure
Description: Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II is a third-person action-adventure game. It carries over the concepts and gameplay elements of the previous part, including permadeath, utilizing puzzles and runes to advance, and an examination of Senua’s mental state. We’ll get a new and improved fighting system, more dynamic and realistic than the previous one, which will add to the game. The length of the game is going to be similar to its predecessor.

Wuthering Waves

Genre: Action role-playing
Description: This is an open-world gacha game. You get to play a character named the Rover and also a unit called Resonators, which you’ll need to summon. It reminds me most of Genshin Impact, so if you enjoyed that one, you’ll enjoy this one for sure

C.A.R.D.S. RPG: The Misty Battlefield

Genre: Strategy role-playing
Description: This game combines roguelike-style deckbuilding with SRPGs. You’ll have to collect 100 different cards to build the strongest deck and fight enemies.
Morbid: The Lords of Ire
Platform: Win, NS, PS5, XSX
Genre: Action role-playing
Description: Morbid: The Lords of Ire is a continuation of the isometric Souls-like ARPG. You’ll have to defeat the five Lords of Ire as you fight for your life across the landscapes of the game.

Description: In this game, you’ll have to solve some mysteries and find some truths before it gets too late. Mark Borja and his friends play a major role in unraveling the mysteries of the game.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
Platform: NS
Genre: Role-playing
Description: The original Paper Mario (made for GameCube) was released in 2004 and is now getting a remake for Nintendo Switch. You get to control a 2D version of Mario and explore a variety of worlds designed to look like paper. The combat in The Thousand-Year Door follows a turn-based battle system.
World of Goo 2
Platform: Win, NS
Genre: Puzzle
Description: You get to use living liquid creatures to build bridges, grow towers, terraform terrain, and fuel flying machines. It’s been a long 16 years but we can finally revisit some of our childhood memories.

33 Immortals
Platform: Win, XSX
Genre: Roguelike, action
Description: 33 Immortals is a co-op action-roguelike for 33 players. Like I have 32 friends to play together. I would be lucky to find 3 but 33 is a damn impossible. Hopefully, it has some kind of matching system otherwise it’s a very niche game. I mean if you have 33 friends, I doubt you have time for games. Even if you ignore that part, good luck getting 33 players to cooperate.

Genre: Fighting
Description: MultiVersus is a platform fighter, with players battling on different stages and attempting to knock the opponent off the stage’s boundary by dealing damage.

Tokyo Psychodemic

Genre: Mystery adventure
Description: You get to be a detective and solve cases by analyzing evidence and consulting with specialists.
Umbraclaw
Platform: Win, NS, PS4, PS5, XBO, XSX
Genre: Side-scrolling, action
Description: You get to play as a cat who dies and awakens in the world of the dead. You’ll have to deal with various obstacles in order to be reunited with your owner.
